The USS Darwin is a science fiction fan group; a chapter of StarFleet, the International Star Trek Fan Association.

Events

The Darwin usually holds it's monthly meeting at the Milford Public Library.

Meetings are free, unless otherwise noted, and usually start at noon.

About

Greetings and welcome to the webpage of the USS Darwin, a chapter of StarFleet; the International Star Trek Fan Association.

We are currently based out of Pawtucket, Rhode Island in the area of the globe that StarFleet has designated Region 15. Region 15 encompasses all of the New England area.

As a group we get together at least once a month to talk about the fan club, Trek and sci-fi in general. Most of the time our meetings are held at the public library in Milford, Massachusetts but during the summer we get out and hold meetings at Borderland State Park in Easton, Massachusetts and Pope John Paul II Park in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

    I'm Dave, the leader of this chapter of StarFleet, The International Star Trek Fan Association. I'm what you would call a casual sci-fi fan, not really hard-core about any particular series or movie. In the outside world I do environmental consulting for a global company with an office in Braintree, MA.

    I'm the founder of the USS Darwin and I was the Darwin's first Commanding Officer. I've been in Starfleet for over 20 years and always have fun meeting fans of any level from all genres.

    I enjoy sci-fi in general, on TV and at the movies. In "real" life I'm a software engineer, both by trade and by hobby. I enjoy "making things go".

Following the losses against the Borg at Wolf 359 and the many battles of the Dominion War StarFleet had a shortage of ships. It was at this time the Admiralty Board decided it would be faster to re-commission several dry-docked starships then to build new ones. Of those ships being rebuilt was the USS Darwin.
